I bought this product to make a layer poppyseed sponge cake, and it worked beautifully. It is blue poppyseed which tends to be less bitter than the black counterpart, and the preferred variety for baking. It was fresh and smelled nicely. However, you need to know how to use it. Cook poppyseed for 20 min, let it cool down and drain the excess water using cheesecloth. If you're making a strudel, cook it in milk. Next, grind it twice in a meat grinder using the blade with the smallest holes. You will lose some seeds in the process, so start with a little bit more than what the recipe calls for. Now your poppyseed is ready for use. It will not be bitter.

Very tiny and did not taste good. Weird smell in the bag. So long for my bagels being edible. Taste was off! I love this brand but I will never buy poppy seeds from this merchant again.😢
