Works great but one warning.
This pencil worked wonderfully for transferring an embroidery pattern onto a thick linen. However, beware to read and follow the directions carefully. I used the linen setting on my iron and did not move the iron back and forth and the paper left a yellowish stain on the linen. Fortunately I was able to turn the fabric over and try again using the cotton setting as directed and moving the iron back and forth gently. This worked beautifully with no staining. I'm so happy I discovered this product. I found it to work much better than the iron transfer ink pens which leave a much thicker line that can distort the image a bit. This leaves a finer line that is easier to cover with stitches and preserves the integrity of the image being transferred.

Tracing paper
Terrible. Ripped easily too thick to see what I wanted to trace. Had to go to Walmart and get tracing paper

Excellent for use with vintage patterns.
I have been collecting vintage embroidery transfers for a few years now. I'm always hesitant to use the original transfer, so I got this tracing pad along with a transfer pencil. It's working out very well for my transfers. Now my process is to photocopy the transfer I want to use, then trace and transfer onto my fabric. It's also extremely helpful for cases where my originals are in such bad shape I could not use them as a transfer even if I wanted to. In addition, there are a lot of adorable embroidery transfers online, so you can use this paper + a transfer pencil for them too. Of course there are ways to do this without tracing paper, but in my opinion, it makes it easier, and is quite reasonably priced.

The booklet doesn't contain 400 patterns
The heading for this product is misleading. It appears the booklet contains 400 patterns, when, in fact, 400 is the number of the booklet. There are actually fewer than 30 patterns. the patterns are good and the product is worth the price; it's just that I expected more patterns.

Just what I needed for making duplicate patterns. Perfect!

good product
I recently started embroidering again and this stuff is indispensable. You can trace a picture from anywhere, a book a magazine, and embroidery pattern, wallpaper, or decorator fabric with a regular pencil, then flip it over and use a special iron-on pencil to trace it on the other side. Then iron it on to the fabric you want to embroider. Be sure to press hard with the iron-on pencil and also hold a hot iron still with pressure on when ironing. You still might need to go over the lines with a blue cold water wash-out pen depending on the surface you're ironing onto.
