Solid timepiece
Initial impressions: This is a great watch at a very reasonable price point. I believe I paid $40. Watch is extremely lightweight however seems durable. Easy to set the date/time. Comfortable to wear, I don’t even notice I’m wearing a watch most the time. Will update at a later point once I have more time with it.

Nice looking, high quality
Over the years I've bought many watches, some expensive and some cheap. You can't beat Timex's quality for the price. This watch is sporty and looks expensive. It is big but not chunky. It's also lightweight. The band is strong and easy to clean. One of my other favorite timex watch has a leather band, that when I sweat at work, the leather band absorbs and it smells bad. This is not going to be an issue with the silicone band. I am so happy with this watch, I would buy another one.

Good all-rounder
I like this watch more than I thought I would. I initially bought it to be a work beater, but decided that it would be best suited as a practical, all-purpose weekender. A go-to watch for errands and outdoor activities without flash or pretense.Yes, it's plastic, but it's not plasticky. It's easy to read without being loud. Being solar powered makes it practical from a maintenance perspective. The only downside there is that apparently solar power and the Indiglo backlight are mutually exclusive, and the lume is sparse and ineffective , as other reviewers have mentioned. This watch is available with several strap options, mine being the black corduroy type NATO strap. While comfortable enough, the buckle holes started to deform quickly, which doesn't bode well for it's longevity. This watch deserves a better strap anyway, and should look good with any number of sport style straps available online.

Stout, Simple, Tough
It’s not the flashiest working man’s watch, but it’s a solid choice. It’s comfortable, tells time accurately, takes abuse and still works and looks good, and the solar-powered feature is kinda cool. The case is a composite material and resists damage to both the finish and crystal. To add, the crystal is inset enough into the bezel that edge chipping and scratches aren’t much of a concern. It’s a tad thick overall, but that doesn’t bother me. It can catch on stuff when reaching into tight spaces. Once in a while the crown will kick out stopping timekeeping, but that is rare. The OEM single piece strap isn’t the greatest but it’s sturdy and comfortable, though the metal loops and buckle will get paint dings exposing the metal underneath. More importantly, it cleans up and dries quickly. I get messy throughout the day, so that is a plus. It’s very lightweight, which for me took some getting used to, but I have no serious complaints. If you need a rugged watch, check this one out. I hope it lasts for years.

TImex is junk Timex is junk Timex is junk
JUNK, Timex watches have gone the way of junk. This time piece will not keep correct time or date. 60 days old and timex says submit to a representative repair to have it looked at. I tossed it in the lake where it belongs. I have purchased several timex watches and I will not make that bad mistake again. If your thinking of purchasing this manufacturers product, run, run as fast to another product as you can. Heck my Invicta watch was cheaper and is a workhorse.Shame on you timex for not swapping this out.You lost this lifetime customer, hopefully I can steer more customers away from your poor product.Never againNever again

I Like Everything About It...
I've had a Timex "Expedition" watch for about the past twenty-five years now, and the old one still works great! So why get this new one? The battery was probably about to wear out with the old one, and I liked the fact that this one was "solar", so I would never have to worry about a new battery again. I really liked the way this one looked too. The watch face is probably 30-40% bigger than my old one, and has the solar-cell "honeycomb" look to the background of the watch face. Pretty cool. I really do like everything about how it looks and feels. The velcro band is also wider and feels very secure. For the price, I think it is an excellent watch. And if it is anything like my last one, it should last longer than I do. So I guess that is long enough. I have only good things to say about old, and now new, Timex "Expedition" watches. They are simple, sturdy, dependable, and good. What more do I need. Jim W.

Look good, feels super cheap and band is terrible.
When I was a kid, it was always exciting to go to the big store and see the timex watches, pick them up, inspect features. I remember the timex expedition in particular, great weight, good strap, handsome watch. Finally got one for christmas and that watch lasted a really long time--under rough kid usage. since then, I've started an amateur watch collection (this piece is not really part of it) and I need a watch to wear everyday for work. I work in the service industry and right away out of the box, I don't think this thing is gonna hold up. I'd sooner trust the timex expedition from 30 years ago. This thing is light as a feather, seems mostly plastic, and the 'metal' components on the band broke after two casual wears (not to work). It does feel like a cheap piece of crap, despite the large face and case. Nonetheless, it does look pretty good, it does tell the time, is solar powered, has a couple complications that are convenient (third hand, single day date). I will keep it and wear it casually and replace the band with a new band or one of my better bands that I've had for many years (and neither has shown any signs of bending or breaking). Bottom line, this is not the heavy duty tough use watch that it looks like online, and if you buy it, wait for it to be heavily discounted, and buy an additional band at the same time. Note, it the back case plate says stainless steel--that is only that plate. I can assure you, the rest of the case, including the crown, lugs, and the crystal, is straight up plastic. I think I paid around $50 for this watch. Feel I like I overpaid, quite a bit. At least it is solar powered though. The blue strap is a separate purchase.
