Q: Will the signal go through a network switch? Or do I have to lay new cable that bypasses the network switch?

the signal can be routed thru a network switch with the proper converter (powered VGA to Ethernet) the unpowered converters(adaptors) can not hook to a switch (diffrent signals). so it is possiable to connect thru a switch. not sure what is required on the software side to make the network system work that might require advanced software or seperate switches.
