If you can't say it just see it
This is the world wide region free blu ray release of the classic 1991 Ken Russell film. The film is based on the stage play "Bondage" by David Hines; Who based it on late night taxi cab drives from the hookers he drove around. The film takes place in Los Angeles and is about the day in the life of a prostitute named Liz. This role is played by Theresa Russell(No relation to Ken Russell) in a comical yet honest performance. Theresa Russell does a lot in the role. She goes through some very raw dialogue and plays the character in several different settings. She first plays Liz as a current prostitute and then we go backwards from the time she wasn't a hooker. Liz gets raped, married to an abusive husband, pregnant and treated with inhumane throughout the film. In spite of Liz being a tough and jaded, she doesn't do drugs. The story is uniquely told through flashbacks with Liz talking to the camera in honest and humorous monologues. This film was a marketed as a flipside to another 90's film of the same era "Pretty Woman" and was rated NC-17 at the time of it's release. The blu ray is loaded with bonus features including New interviews with actress Theresa Russell(2022), actress Ginger Lynn Allen(2022), writer Deborah Dalton(2022), Filmmaker Bruce La Bruce about Ken Russell's Whore(2022), Theatrical Trailer,1080 high-definition presentation, Audio commentary, and video essay by film critic Kat Ellinger(2022)

Finally out on bluray!!
Well after a little over a month Amazon finally delivered Whore on bluray today.I thought the bluray looks great and still think this is one of the most amazing performances by an actor in any film. Theresa Russell knocks it out of the park.If this film was released today, it would get an R rating. There is a fantastic interview with Theresa Russell on this film and a little bit of her career that was done in 2021. She still looks great and age appropriate. Once you see the interview you will know she is not the kind of person to get plastic surgery to stay young.Imprint indicated the slipcover was limited so I was glad that mine came with the slipcover because this is one slipcover that I would be very disappointed in not getting. So happy to finally have this film on bluray. If this was a DVD release I would still be jumping for joy. I will still keep my battered old VHS that I bought used from a record store in Los Angeles ten years after the film was released for $3.99, the sticker and date are still on the VHS cassette. As you can see from the VHS, the front and back cover photos were both used for slipcover and bluray case cover.Thank you Imprint for finally releasing this film, it's pricey but worth every penny!
