Best bargain in my stereo universe.
This little amp is powering a small but exceptional subwoofer in a £6000 studio monitoring rig. It delivers great sound nuance and power in a system that delivers timbre, intimacy and directness in a money no object near field setup - at medium volumes.I baught the unit after reading food DIY reviews on the chip it’s based on. If you’re powering a subwoofer that’s reasonably sensitive and not extremely loud, you could spend £500 and notice any difference. If you have a subwoofer with an easy load that you need for medium volume applications (not shaking the walls), this might just be as good as it gets.Truly. I thought I would return this and buy something that matches the rest of my system “price point”. But I didn’t.System: Blumenstein Marlin + Sub. Mytek Brooklyn w/ reclocker between Mac. Microzotl MZ2 tube amplifier with Mullard NOS tubes. £400 in cables (which all passed a/b tests with cheaper cables). £40 little sub amp which does the job. That’s how impressive it is :)

good but could be improved
If you use a decent power supply, it Sounds good and functions well, but any sub amp like this should incorporate remote sensing, so it switches off when no signal is detected. One with this capability would get 5 stars!

Fantastic, but use a 24V supply if you can.
I fed it 12V (~12.8) from a LifePo4 battery and then 24V (~24.6) via a step up transformer and used a DC watt meter to measure power pulled by the amp, at 12V the thing starts to distort at about ~15W, but with 24V I was able to drive the subwoofer with the watt meter reading ~60W before I heard any noticeable distortion, I could drive it a little further but I didn't want to damage the speaker with clipping. This was with a 4ohm load, so all in I'm happy with the purchase and fairly content with the "100W" rating. In terms of the engineering documentation for the TPA3116D2 chip, it should crank up to 80-90W into a 3ohm load before THD creeps above 0.1%, so everything checks out. Glad it didn't come with a power supply as I do not need one, and including one would have pushed the cost up such that I wouldn't have considered buying it, if you're going to buy a power supply, grab a 24V that can deliver 4A and to get the best out of this little amp, if you're only looking at 12V, an el-cheapo 2A plug will do fine since it's not gonna push much past 20W at that voltage.

Great value and quality
A great little product. Looks and feels well made, and has been powering my subwoofer for the last couple of years without any problems.

Power lead frustration
Not having a universal dc input is very annoying. The input is smaller than all my other stereo/musical equipment, which all have the same dc in.Just make it easier on your customers and supply the power lead.

Great Little Amp
Paired this with the SHNITPWR 24V DC 5A (5.5mm x 2.5mm) Power Supply and it has replaced a buzzing active subwoofer amp, now it's nice and quiet when nothing is playing. Having control over the level is also useful not having to climb behind the subwoofer. The power has to be on/off with its switch, if the power is disconected it makes the speaker pop, so I just don't do that.

No power supply, ( it is in the small print!!!..)
No PSU is supplied (it is mentioned in the advert if you examine), minimal instructions, and small return window. Im now stuck with a doorstop with knobs on. I may come up with a use for this thing.. not sure what yet.!
